Resonance FM is a radio station set up by London Musicians' Collective to promote experimental broadcasting. "NO NETWORK" was an open platform for people to broadcast through their mobile phones over Resonance FM. The phone number of the station was published on its website, and people were able to call the station between 7 and 9PM, and thus use their mobile phones as a microphone. Their calls were broadcast directly to the public without manipulation.
Our hope was that the opportunity to broadcast directly to listeners would encourage callers to misbehave, or come up with innovative (mis)uses for their mobile phones. The result was an eclectic and chaotic sequence of callers broadcasting different experiences of the city: a clash of public and private spaces.
